Impulsive Charters, est. 1995, is a family owned and operated business. Captain Paul Thompson has always loved sports and the outdoors — his passion for saltwater fishing started at a young age when his parents took him and his siblings on vacation to the North Carolina coast… Bald Head Island.
After graduating from Baylor High School in Chattanooga, TN and attending the University of Tampa and University of Tennessee Chattanooga, Capt. Paul ventured to the mountains of western North Carolina. He raised rainbow trout in a secluded area of the Great Smoky Mountains, eventually building a log cabin from timber he cleared and establishing Buffalo Mountain Trout Farm.
In 1985, his parents purchased a beachfront home on Bald Head Island. Once Capt. Paul visited, he knew he had to return — permanently. After marrying his wife Jeanne in 1995, they purchased the Impulsive and immediately began the next journey of his outdoor adventures, creating a private fishing charter, tours, and commercial fishing business from their home in Southport, NC.
